It’s a Ballground Kinda Day!
What's up, peeps? It's day 2; let me start by saying I had every intention of not doing anything but sitting in nature this entire trip! So much so that I didn't want any human interaction, and I was prepared to do such until Rewind, so day 2 started a little late for me. I got up at about 9, did my morning yoga IN THE FOREST. How cool is that? Then I made myself some breakfast and a cup of tea, turned on some smooth jazz and sat in the adorable tiny treehouse, and took in more of the beautiful scenery. After breakfast, I decided to make myself presentable and explore! Wait, Jazz, what about the thing... oh yea!, so the thing that made me decide to explore was the fantastic scenery of downtown Ballgroun as I was driving in. It was so quaint and cute, and the city backdrop was a gorgeous, picturesque view of the mountains! If yall ever watch hallmark movies, you know what I mean! When I say that, I knew I wouldn't just be sitting in the house, so I got out, and I'm glad I did!!
While I was out exploring, I got hungry, and I decided to try one of the places Liv (my super host) recommended the Burger bus. It's featured in Disney's Timmy Future: Mistakes were made- it is an eclectic eatery with a downtown view. It was so neat having lunch in such a sweet space. My food came quickly and look pretty tasty. I got the 1365, a basic burger, the works, and their homemade sauce, and I also got the Dogwood Dog, which was a hotdog in a pretzel bun with ketchup and mustard. They both looked as though they were homemade! Annnnddd the verdict was!! It was pretty darn good; the bun on the burger was fluffy, not too dense. I wasn't too thrilled with the Dogwood dog. Maybe because my expectations were different, I suppose. If you ate it for what it was, it wasn't too bad. Mine was cold, so that sucked, but for $16.50, I guess it was worth it....minus the cold hotdog or room temperature, I should say!
After lunch, I needed to walk off some of that food, so I headed over to perched, which is this adorable boutique. I would say it was relatively affordable as far as boutiques go. It was light and airy with many trendy pieces. I bought a pair of fuzzy socks, lol! After leaving perched, I went to sit in the park and write. The pace there was ALOT slower than I'm used to. It's almost like people know they have places to be, but no one is in a rush to get there, but they will be on time, lol. I know confusing, right! They are also quite friendly. I had two people speak to me and wave, again very different, but I like it. I guess the vibe is just different in small towns.
Sweet tooth calling! Lol, I guess it's true what they say after you have something salty, you need something sweet! In my search, I found Scooped on Main, an ice cream parlor on the corner of Gilmer Ferry Rd. Walking in, you are immediately hit with the warmth and giddiness that ice cream provides, or maybe that's just me! the sweet fragrance of comfort and happiness. I approached the counter and spent about 20 minutes contemplating before deciding on the Salted Carmel Brownie. From what I gathered, it is brownie-based ice cream with fudge pieces mixed inside. And one scoop for 3.50 wasn't too bad either. Here's the bummer, so when I tried the sample, it was pretty good, but I was quickly let down when I got my scoop and started eating it. Now, I wouldn't call myself an ice cream aficionado, but I do LOVE the stuff, but I'm not big on super sweet! The Salted Carmel Brownie was way too sweet for my taste! Now, if your a sweets eater, go for it!
Another thing that bumped me out about it was the texture. It had the consistency of ice cream that had melted and refrozen again. Have you ever tasted ice cream were the basis flavorless, and they add a million different mix-ins to give it flavor? YEA me too! Those people are the SPAWN of Horrible! But this one was different, even with it being too sweet for me. It was well-made ice cream. It was one of those where the base carries the flavor, and the mix-ins amp it up.
After my semi disappointing ice cream adventure, I decided to head back to my Forrest for the day! I got back home, and I sat by the river listening to the water and taking in the breeze and nature. After about an hour, I headed up to the house to try and work off more of that burger and hot dog, lol! Then I got on the interweb to plan my day for tomorrow and retired for the night with Law and order, some cherries, and a comfy blanket.
