Savannah Files
Hey guys, Welcome back to day 2 of my Savannah Trip, let's get right to it π. On Monday, my day started a little later than expected. Remember yesterday when I told you guys the Wi-fi wasn't working, Yeah that. So the host said the tech would be there around 9-9:30 am. So I was like, "Okay, when they get here, hopefully, it won't take long so I can go ahead and start my day and begin exploring." However, when I got a text from the host saying that the tech was running behind because of traffic and would be about 20 minutes late, that dream quickly faded. So I supposed that was okay, but when it was after ten, and there was no sign, I was like, "Well, I guess I'll start my adventures tomorrow π. " However, before I could slide into deep despair, there was a knock on the door!! HA-LE-LU-JAH !!ππΎ Once there, I explained to the dude what was going on, and NO LIE, it took him maybe 45 SECONDS to fix my problem, which was drum roll please-> the password was supposed to lowercase, not uppercase π€¦πΎββοΈ. So, of course, he was upset he spent all that time in traffic, to spend 45 seconds solving a problem. I felt terrible for him, like why couldn't the host tell me to try that yesterday? Which would have saved us a lot of time and GAS. So PSA for future AirBnBers, if you have issues with the wi-fi, try switching between uppercase and lowercase letters. It might save a few lives π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ.
Now for the day! So I eventually made it out into the world to FINALLY start my day!! Even given the slight setback, I was still excited to see what the city had to offer! Thankfully it was still breakfast time, and the place I wanted to go to was still open. Again at my co-worker's suggestion, I went to a place called Clary's Cafe, a local favorite and, for my film enthusiast, the place where they shot parts of the film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I've never seen it, but I've heard it's a good one. While there, I ordered Crab Cakes Benedict and a plate of French toast. The CCB was a little rich for my blood (Hollandaise, Poached Egg, Butter, richness from crab cakes), but it was pretty stinkin' delicious!! The French toast was pretty good, the perfect amount of sweetness for me. The only thing was that they didn't taste fresh, they were just reheated, which was a bummer, but it was still satisfying. It costs about $28, but if you look at the picture, it was worth it, and the crab was real, not that imitation stuffππ. I even ended up having some leftovers. SWEET!!πͺπΎπͺπΎ
After leaving Clary's, I drove to Riverstreet, which, as the name goes, is a street right on the river with plenty of stores and restaurants. Another PSA, if driving down river street, beware, it's only one way, and the road is uneven cobblestone. So drive SLOWLY; also, people are walking up, down, and across, so beware. By the time I got to the end of that street, I thought I would need a new alignment on my car; it was rough. Once I survived driving, I was able to find a park, and unfortunately, just about everywhere, unless you have a Trolley ticket, you have to pay for parking between 8 am-8 pm Mon-Sat. Sundays, believe it or not, are free parking days. So, I paid for parking and started walking down Riverstreet. The first thing I noticed was the building's architecture. For me, it sent me back in time, which makes sense considering Savannah was around in the 18th century.
After that, I noticed they have stores to celebrate Christmas, multiple stores strictly for Christmas celebrations, and open YEAR-ROUND!! π₯°π₯° (Squeals in delight!!) For someone who LOVES Christmas time, it was fantastic to see that, and ironically enough, I didn't go into one because I knew I would buy a whole bunch of stuff that I didn't need.π π After that, I saw an authentic candy store with boo-Koos of candy.π€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈ DUH- Lady Dee, that's the purpose of a candy store, to have candy. Yea, I know, but I guess since I had not been in a REAL candy store in a while, it was just lovely to see. They also had chocolate coated goodies, different popcorn varieties, Saltwater taffy, candy apples, and Ice cream. You could watch them make all the goodies right there in the store!! I didn't buy anything at the time, but I knew I would be back to do some severe damage later!.
After that, I kept trucking along, and I saw a man that looked like Chuck Norris ππ; it's crazy and honesty, it very well could have been him; I haven't seen any recent pictures of him in a while. He's still living, right? So, that gave me a good chuckle, and I continued on my way down Riverstreet. Oh yeah, and I was called a B-I-T-C-H by a homeless person, imagine that! Instances such as those indeed behoove me. Like you're begging me for money, and when I don't give you any, you call me names.ππ OKAY SIR, carry on, please!! After that bewildering experience, I continued to a store called Nourish. If you know this place, you know what I mean when I say this place smells like taking your pants off after coming home from a long day and falling headfirst into a hot shower. It smells AMAZING!! I ended up buying the fam some handmade soaps and some essential oil patches, ALL smell wonderful!!. I will say I was concerned for myself because even though the soaps smelled heavenly, My skin is hypersensitive, so fragrances can break me out. However, I still got the soap; even if I can only use it as hand soap, I will use it!
I asked the clerk at Nourish where I could buy a book bag because just the bag from there was already heavy, and I had just got started. She recommended a place called Earthbound. She said it was kind of on the Hippie-ish side of things regarding style, which made me laugh cause I think that stuff can be cool looking. So, I went into Earthbound, and the clerk was right. To me, it was Hippie meets hipster hiker gear. Especially when I saw $40 for a book bag, I was like, look, I need this to carry my stuff for the week, and that's it. I got lucky when I saw one for $20, that was a little better for what I was going to be using it for, and it was cute!! However, when I got up to the register, the bookbag rang up for $10 ππΎ. It was on SALE, A-MAN!!!
I left Earthbound and went into Savannah Bee Company. I love honey, so this place was heaven on earth. That is until I saw the prices, and that quickly brought me back to reality. Now don't get me wrong, I still purchased stuff. That was just a warning for you guys π! Also, check out their website, the merchandise is excellent, and there are great gifts for the honey lover in your life!! I then found lunch at a place called Spanky's. I had the Shrimp Po'Boy and their famous spuds. The sandwich was good. For me, the bun was a little too bunny ππ; come on, you know what I mean. The shrimp were hot, fresh, and deliciously crunchy!! The famous spuds were pretty good, I mean fried potatoes, what's not to love!! They were like double fried potato disks. So, crispy crunchy on the outside and perfectly done potato on the inside. After that, I wanted something sweet, so I went to a place called Byrd's. Very famous for their cookies. You get free samples of any cookie they have YEEEAAA-UUHH!!!.πͺπΎπͺπΎ After that, I purchased a ticket for the Old Towne Savannah trolley. Thankfully it could be used for any day, so I held onto it until I didn't feel like walking anymore.
After an eventful day, I left and went to Publix to get a salad because I needed some greens in my life, and with the fried foods and sweets, I was at my limit. I bet you were wondering about my leftovers, Well thankfully, it was cold, and they held up great!!. So when I got my salad, I ended up putting the rest of the benedict on the salad, and to be honest, I liked that better than eating it plain. The freshness of the salad gave it some much-needed contrast in texture and flavor. So it was a great dinner to end the day!
I know today was a long one, but I truly appreciate you guys hanging on with me. I promise the ride only gets crazier from here!! ππ So until next time, listen up, kids, eventually things fall into place! So until they do, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments & know everything happens for a reason. Lady Dee, OUT!!! βπΎ
