Savannah Trippin’
It's Day 3, and this is what went down! 😁. Tuesday, I got up, by the grace of the good lord, at 630am, but I didn't leave the house until around 830-9 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️. I swear lazing around should be an Olympic sport! On the plus side, I did feel kind of cute today 🥰🥰, which are rare moments, so I felt good. However, that feeling began to slowly vanish as I started my day by driving all around Savannah, Ga, looking for a friggin jacket because I didn't want to freeze for the 3rd day in a row. I started at Walmart, then went to Target and some smaller stores in between. I didn't want an athletic-style jacket, but unfortunately, that was all I was coming across. Eventually, I got fed up driving around and ended up at Rainbow, the clothes store, not the grocery store for all of my fellow southerners. Still, even there, I didn't find the style of jacket I was looking for, but I knew I needed something. So I ended up buying a zip-up hoodie 🙄. Not the most fashionable, but it did the job.
After that, by some miracle, the restaurant I wanted to go to was still open and serving breakfast. I ended up at this place called Sunny Side Up. Being Black Woman, I assumed that due to the heavy African American presence, the food was about to be BOMB!!. The food was MEH😑😑 , or I guess I should say what I ended up getting was ehhh. I ended up getting a seafood omelet w/ grits. The omelet didn't have much flavor. I think the only authentic seafood in it was the shrimp which was tasty. The grits were your standard restaurant grits. The best part of the meal was the bagel😣.
After I left, I decided to use my trolley tour ticket today ( say that ten times fast 😂). It was the Old Savannah Trolley tour. On this tour, a few factors come on the bus to tell you about the history of Savannah at different stops. Also, it was an On and Off ticket, so I could get off and get on at any stop. One guy came on, and he played an Italian mobster guy talking about the alcohol business in Savannah. He was pretty cute 😉. I ended up being the only black person on tour, driver included. AWKWARD 😬😬 , especially when the mention of slavery was the topic, but none the less the tour was great, and you got to see a lot of the city. The driver was from up north and reminded me of the " Keeper Movin'" guy I watch online 🤣🤣.
After the initial tour, I ended up getting back on to get off at the stop for St John the Baptist. If any of you reading go to Savannah, definitely check it out. It is a gorgeous place, and definitely a trip back into time, from the architecture outside to the inside and the paintings, statues, pillars, etc. It was a surreal experience that I highly recommend!! I left and went to an area called the City Market. It's another cool area with a lot of boutiques, restaurants, and museums. I went into the Prohibition museum. It was fantastic and creepy 😮😮 the level of detail in the exhibit was pretty awesome. So remarkable; in fact, the figures looked a tad too real for me and would be appearing in my nightmares 😱😱.
When I left the haunted house, I mean museum, I found this little gallery shoppette, and I went into a boutique. They had their bags lined up in a way that was so aesthetically pleasing that I almost forgot the fun horror ride I took earlier at the museum almost. They also had some charming handmade jewelry. I chatted with the cashier, and she told me some places to hang out for my birthday. Whist talking with her, she told me a story of when she and her boyfriend saw a guy on a motorcycle get killed right in front of them 🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️IN SAVANNAH. I was SHOOK! But like in every city, you should stay away from areas. me tell you, my friends, mama Mia, that pizza was delicious 👌🏾👌🏾. I'm sorry if I offended anyone by that—Italian or no. 😣😣 Long story short, the pizza was bomb ass, and I recommend going. I got two slices that turned out to be giant. I was only able to eat one and ended up taking the other one to go. I will say that once the pizza cooks down, it's not that great. So if you take it to go, eat it straight away or warm it up in the oven. When I was eating my pizza, a guy ordered two slices as well, and they had boo-Koos of jalapenos on them. I thought to myself, " Man, this dude is going to experience some serious bathroom companionship for the next few days" 🤣🤣
After that, I made the treacherous journey of finding my way back to my car before it got too late. I bet you're wondering, Lady Dee, why not get back on the trolley, well my friends, unfortunately, the trolley stopped running at 5. I didn't make it back to one of the stops before the requisite 4:30 time 😖😖. So I had to shove and lay myself back to my car 😰😰. Once I got back, I wanted to find something to eat, and by another suggestion, I ended up at Vinny Van GoGos pizza. Let After leaving Vinny's, I made the unfortunate discovery that I did not remember where I parked my car, and it was getting dark 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️. So I had to dig in the deep recesses of my mind to figure out which way I walked to get to Vinny's and try to retrace my steps. Thankfully I remembered, well obviously, or I wouldn't be talking with you guys, or am I. 😱😱 Boooooooo…. 👻👻Please be friends with me 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️.
After those heart palpitations, I finally made my way back to the Airbnb and thus ended day 3 of my vacation. Thanks for joining me for day three, and be sure to stay tuned for the fun that's to come!! So until next time, make good choices, and may the force be with you all!! Lady Dee, OUT ✌🏾
