😆😆Happy Days and Fantastic Sunday’s my dudes and dudettes 😆😆!! Today I want you to get Motivated about The Fountain City… What is The Fountain City you may ask?, Well there dude person, I shall enlighten you.  now let’s get poetic… Nestled along the rocky banks of the rustling Chattahoochee River (Gorgeous by the way), is The beautiful Fountain City that kisses the state of Alabama ever so slightly. Columbus, GA has a robust history that dates back to about 1828….. 😲 dayyyyummmmmmm 😲 …old right!! Okay okay, enough with the touristy stuff, and pamphlet pull outs… let me tell you about MY hometown!

Columbus ,GA is about an hour and a half south of Atlanta, depending on if you're flying like a bat outta hell or not 😎…. It’s what I would consider a small town with big city dreams!! What I mean by that is, that if you are from a TRUE small town and want to experience the “City” without all the hustle and bustle, then it’s great for you! NOW if you're from some place like NEW YORK, don't go there and be like “Jazz said this was a big city”….NO HELL I DIDN’T!! lol!!!. I lived in Columbus up until I graduated High School! GO RAIDERS !! Then I went off to college, B-L-A-Z-E-R-S GO BLAZERS GOOOOOO!!, Graduated and started moving around. I went some of here and there …. and then found myself back in Columbus….welllll Columbus adjacent, 🤣 ! Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved being there, I just know it’s not the place for me! I mean, I LIVED THERE MY WHOLE LIFE! It is a fantastic town for those of you that want someplace to retire and  just buy some land and build your mansion lol…. or for those of you who have lived in small towns and aren't quite ready for big city life…. …. but For you young professionals trying to start your life, this is definitely NOT the place for you! GO SOMEPLACE ELSE…..PLEASEEE!!!! 

The Fountain City is also home to Columbus State University. CSU houses a plethora of amazing programs from Business, the Arts, Nursing,  and more! They give an aspiring college student the opportunity to take that step without the roaring culture shock! ANNNDDD it’s not that far from ATLANTAAAA, 🥳 PARTYYYYYYYY🥳TIMMMEEEE 🥳 .. Don’t tell your parents🤐 !! 

Follow your dreams. Just make sure to have fun too!!

What’s wrong with the city you ask… oh nothing, nothing, not a thing!!! It’s just one of those town’s that if you're there too long, it kind of sucks you in! They have cool things like white water rafting, Uptown is pretty neat too, if you like history!!! ONE thing I CAN attest to is that YOU WILL NEVER have a shortage of GREAT spots to eat!! From Chicken Salad Chick, to Smoke Bourbon and BBQ, to the local joints like Jordan Girls Hot Dogs, Chester’s BBQ, Taste of Heaven, Nicey’s , Cafe Le Rue and Wynnton Pit BBQ 🤤🤤🤤 just to name a few!!! Also for my creative connoisseurs, there's…….. Fountain City Coffee Co, which is another local business in… you guessed it, THE FOUNTAINTIN CITY. Sometimes they host Open Mic Night for The Fountain City SLAM which is a FANTASTIC group founded by Columbus Native, Jonathan Perkins!! This AH-MAZING creation gives writers a safe space and the ability to be young, wild, and free!!!! The Springer Opera House isn't just for Opera!!!  They have plays, Shows, Events, and a whole buncha awesomeness!!!

NOW I told y'all from the jump that I would keep it REAL with you!! Columbus GA is NOT the safest place in the world! According to neighborhoodscout.com. Columbus has one of the HIGHEST crime rates in AMERICA…NOT GEORGIA, but in AMERICAAAAA  😱😱!!!!!….Theses statistics were gathered using data from cities similar in size and population! With a crime rate of 44 per 1,000 residents!!  THAT IS A 1 IN 23 CHANCE!!! IN-FREAKING-SANE😶 !!! But you know what, crime is unfortunately  EVERYWHERE and that is a SAD reality! I am in NO way downplaying the severity of those numbers nor am I justifying the fact. I am, however saying Crime is a part of life….as sad as that sounds! Of course we want to keep ourselves safe and out of harm's way and we SHOULD!!! So, choose wisely when deciding where you want to raise your family, build your life, settle down and so fourth!!

Alright, Alright enough of the HEAVYYY stuff, back on the fun tip!!! If you're not into THE ARTS and such and you just wanna 😜 TURNNN UPPPPPP, 😜 then….Columbus is NOT for you!! lol JKJK!! They have some pretty cool scenes for that too! The Sound Factory!- it has TWO sides to satisfy EVERY need!! Ayden Lounge! A Gorgeous Multi-Story Restaurant and Nightlife Spot that only let the “Grown and Sexy” Partake after 9…lol ya gotta be at least 25! More nightlife from The Fountain City includes Martini’s ,After 5, The Loft , and CIRCA Lounge!

To sum it all up, The Fountain City, like any other place, has its pluses and minuses! Although, I don’t ever want to go back to live permanently, and that may be the “ I don’t wanna get stuck in my hometown mentality”, It IS my hometown and the history it possesses is amazing! Downtown Columbus is a gold mine of history plaques, snapshots of war, and a relic of time! If you get a moment GO!, learn about the amazing city and the people that fought to build it, the battle's lost and won! Also if you have time, check out all the museums! I am just now realizing that museums have some AMAZING things! They give you the opportunity to see what happened before you!  So if you make a trip to the good ol’ Fountain City, make sure you…..EAT GOOD, PARTY HARD…LEARN ALOT… EXPLORE DEEP….GO TO SLEEP…WASH, RINSE, AND REPEAT!!!

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is having lots to do and not doing it.
