The Finish, Line

The Finish Line

Round' the bend, hurdle one done, two, done, wind ravaging her hair, breath asphyxiating her chest closer, closer, swoosh through the tape, she WINS! 1st place best in show, that which is she, she which is me! Finish line you little Linx you, slowly inching back and almost out of sight. Sloth-like in nature, a bewildering touch that is so unreal. Stepping past obstacles to finish on top, slipping into the next with adrenaline that won't stop. Steering with the eye of the tiger, through wind, hail dust and fails. Finish Line there you are, and winning will prevail. Day 28 for display, a display of power, worth, progress, and progression. Wealth lay at your feet as lame as can be—your bustling wit and statuesque confidence, gleaming through betrayal, belittlement, and doubt. The finish line, once an intricately painted picture of collaged images only tangible in magazines, to the majority, or by birth, now seems less fleeting and a capture of fate. Finish Line, we are here; I stand tall and accept my victory for my people, ancestors, future, and me! The speech of champions, the composure of elegance, as I descend my podium enthralled by the win, I look out in the distance, finish line you have moved.

Day 28!! Happy Black History Month

Innocence, ignorance, fears, and freedom. Prosperous progressions are we honest or just coping? Innocence vs. ignorance is there a battle; one you know not and choose, the other your knowledge is abundant. Your Innocence is freedom from guilt. While your ignorance is a lack of information. But is it deeper than that, or is the surface clear? Do we fear our truths because they show us ourselves? Do we recognize our realities in a world full of ifs and's buts, constant white lights, and smiling faces? Do we inhale them as the aromatic sense of calm, or do we shun them and turn to toxic positivity?

Vulnerable Moment:

I sometimes let my fears overtalk my belief

Define freedom, my friend? What does that look like for you? My jaded view of race and color leaves my definition one in the making; yours could be what life is daily. For me, freedom is the unconfined expression of self, life, career, and love, free of judgment, condemnation, and an oppressive democracy. Well, do you feel free? Nope, not me, as the color of my skin somehow diminishes the quality of my worth, the deep-seated notions of property and value, or lack thereof, reigns in the blood of those who dominate. The entitlement of a prosperous life? Do you believe it is so? Entitlement? NO! Earned and worked for? ABSOLUTELY.

“Let us not forget we are Beauty”

The building blocks of a country so strong where the craftsman tables are the backs of blacks. If the earned right for prosperity belongs anywhere, it's there. Yet and still we lack, we fall behind, and we claw. As we continue to succeed, we are also sourced for our features, picked for our attributes, mocked for our endless beauty, and coveted for the same. Our gorgeous full figures, lips, eyes, and luscious locs, the same features they disparaged us for, they pay millions to attain. Let us not forget we are beauty, take none away from them, while also remembering we have, what it takes, and the unmatched candor that is our being will forever be that of grace, strength, wealth, and advancement.
